Job Announcement: Director of Development and Marketing

The Director of Development and Marketing will lead The Jackson Symphony’s fundraising and marketing strategies under the supervision of the Executive Director and in cooperation with the Board of Directors. The Director will develop a thorough knowledge of The Jackson Symphony, understanding its mission, history, culture, vision, programs and governance structure as well as its base of financial support and be clearly able to communicate its mission and needs. The individual will identify, establish and maintain relationships with individual patrons and the business community as well as local, state and national foundations and organizations in order to increase contributed income. The Director will coordinate marketing strategies with media specialists and vendors to provide visibility and knowledge of the offerings and programs of The Jackson Symphony in the community and region in order to build audiences and increase ticket sales.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with professional experience in a non-profit environment with achievements in marketing, fundraising or a related field. Additional requirements include: excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build personal relationships with patrons, Board members, volunteers and staff; exceptional written and verbal communication skills; superb organizational skills including the ability to set priorities, track information and achieve goals; knowledge of cultivation, stewardship and planned giving; a sense of creativity and innovation to attract new patrons and build loyalty; a team player with the ability to work independently; sales experience; excellent computer skills and proficiency in social media.
