Touring Ensembles & Classes

Master Classes, Clinics, and Recitals

The Jackson Symphony annually presents educational programs featuring guest artists and/or professional musicians. In the past several years, The Symphony has provided free piano and guitar recitals, clarinet and voice clinics, and piano, flute and violin master classes.

During the 2009-10 season, the Jackson Symphony will present a string master class with David Kim, Concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Members of The Jackson Symphony's youth orchestras will receive "mini-lessons" from Mr. Kim at the class.

Brendan White, former Youth Orchestra member and piano performance major at the Eastman School of Music, will present a recital during the week of May 3-7 at Union University's Hartley Recital Hall. Watch this webpage for the confirmed date. The performance will include Mussorgsky's suite for piano, Pictures at an Exhibition. Mr. White will perform one movement of the work at the Jackson Symphony's School Concerts on Wednesday, March 5th, and the School Concerts will feature Jordan Tang's orchestration of the suite.

Both the master class and recital are open to the public and admission is free.

Touring Brass Quintet

The Jackson Symphony's Touring Brass Quintet performs entertaining and educational programs in West Tennessee schools. Students are introduced to the brass instruments and a variety of music in these 45 minute in-school performances.

If you would like to sponsor this important educational program, please contact Paige Holmes, Jackson Symphony Development Director, 731-427-6440.
